Fireflies is an amazing adventure you'll never forget!
Fireflies is our newest unit at camp, named after our beloved former director, Firefly. This unit has very little in-camp time, but the girls do get to participate in the all-camp activities of the second to last day (including a memorable wish-boat ceremony). Additionally, in order to acclimate to the altitude AND spend 6 days on the trail, the girls need to arrive early and camp does not provide transportation TO camp. Fireflies are able to ride the bus home, however. For 2017, the dates for Fireflies only are: Session 1: July 7-16 Session 2: July 18-26 Session 3: July 27-Aug 5
Designed for girls with moderate to advanced overnight backpacking skills (a year of Rovers is perfect!), Fireflies is designed to both challenge and reward girls who already know they enjoy trail life.
Under the eye of experienced and knowledgeable staff, campers learn to perform all the necessary skills for completing a successful backpacking trek with initiative and independence. Fireflies focuses on improving and refining advanced backpacking skills, teamwork and leadership, and preparing girls for their next stage of Two Sentinels camp life, whether it's Trekkers, OSB's, or Pioneers!
Girls spend the summer overcoming obstacles, finding solutions to problems, learning how to work together with others in an intense environment, and truly appreciating their own talents and abilities...experiences and skills that have changed many, many girls' lives forever.
Attendance at one in-town meeting (either in-person or virtual) by camper and parent is required prior to camp to check gear and finalize plans for the trip. Fireflies who have not previously attended Two Sentinels need director approval...please contact us BEFORE February 1!
