Socks

Socks are critical for comfortable, blister-free feet. You can have really great hiking boots that still give you blisters if you don't have proper wicking in your socks. We recommend all backpackers wear 2 pairs of socks: liners with wool socks on top.

You can wear the same liners several days in a row, but we recommend you bring almost a pair of wool socks per day of hiking.

When you do a practice hike with your pack and hiking boots, also wear the socks and liners you plan to wear on the trail.

Where to Buy
We recommend the following stores:
  • REI
  • Sunrise Mountain Sports
  • Any Mountain
Requirements
