FIREFLIES

a perfect transition to advanced backpacking

Fireflies, named after our beloved former director, Firefly, has very little in-camp time, but the girls do get to participate in the all-camp activities of the second to last day (including a memorable wish-boat ceremony).  Additionally, in order to acclimate to the altitude AND spend 6 days on the trail, the girls need to arrive early and camp does not provide transportation TO camp.  Fireflies are able to ride the bus home, however.

Designed for girls with moderate to advanced overnight backpacking skills (a year of Rovers is perfect!), Fireflies is designed to both challenge and reward girls who already know they enjoy trail life.

Under the eye of experienced and knowledgeable staff, campers learn to perform all the necessary skills for completing a successful backpacking trek with initiative and independence. Fireflies focuses on improving and refining advanced backpacking skills, teamwork and leadership, and preparing girls for their next stage of Two Sentinels camp life, whether it's Trekkers, OSBs, or Pioneers!

Girls spend the summer overcoming obstacles, finding solutions to problems, learning how to work together with others in an intense environment, and truly  appreciating their own talents and abilities--experiences and skills that have changed many girls' lives forever.

Special Dietary Needs: For the safety of other campers with food allergies, we are unable to accommodate vegan, celiac, nut-free diets, or severe allergies on backpacking trips. We can accommodate vegetarians.

Age: 9th-12th grade
On Trail: 6 days/5 nights
Min Weight: 90 lbs

BACKPACKING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Attendance at a group virtual pre-trip meeting is required prior to camp to check gear and finalize plans for the trip.
